Story Synopsis - Draft 4

A 20 year old guy is driving along a country road listening to american country music at mid-day, he notices a roaring argument and feels a change in tempo in contrast to the quite country roads. He slows his car down to spy on the couple and who are throwing their hands about and getting in each others faces. The guy drives past the couple, and the couple are completely oblivious to him so they carry on arguing. The guy parks his car further up the road and watches through the wing-mirror. The 18 year old girl runs back towards the car, but the guy drags her away from the car and pushes her. She comes back to attack the guy this time and he pushes her to the floor and drives off. She is left abandoned her in the middle of nowhere. The 20 year old guy starts making origami and switches between focusing on his origami and watching the girl as she walks around clueless and begins to sulk with her head in her hands. Then she retreats to hopelessly deflates on the grass next to the road-side and shuts her eyes in despair.

She is woken up by bulky black shoes coming towards her, she is offered a blanket and he walks back to his car parked up in front of her. The man opens the passengers door and walks back to her to offer a hand that she at first hesitates towards but in embarrassment of the situation quickly takes and gets up. He ushers her to the car and she seems willing but cautious to the situation. She begins to give him strange looks but doesn’t say anything and looks down.

Dialogue from the girl (‘urm...’)

Dialogue from the guy (‘home?’)

She pauses and looks at him and then looks at the car. Then she looks around and remembers she is in the middle of nowhere, she answers.

Dialogue from the girl (‘if that’s ok? I can give you directions.’)

She sits in the car and looks around nervously with thoughts that she knows this could go bad, but believes in the good intentions of the man. The man starts up the car and the radio begins to blast country music as the girl goes to thank the man. The man says stays stationary and looks at her. She looks back in awkwardness. The guy is holding a willful stare beyond her shoulders and she follows his eye path that seemingly leads to the unlocked door lock.
"Are you forgetting something?" - Man

"What?" - Girl

"Your belt. " - Man
She plugs in her belt and he drives off.

She nudges her head slightly towards him and opens her mouth but decides not to speak.

"This left here." - Girl
But the man carries on straight and takes a right. She looks at him and he looks back, smiles and stops the car.
"Just a moment." - Man
The guy slides around to the boot of the car and rummages through it whilst the girl has a moment of numb nervousness, but is quickly shaken by a loud bang of the man’s car boot shutting. He comes to the passengers door, opens it and mutters.
"One moment." - Man
The man takes the car keys and goes to knocks on the door of the house. The girl panics as she looks around the car and then looks into the wing-mirror down the road. But before she could do anything, the man comes back towards the car and says
"Home?" - Man
The guy gets back in the car and turns around to go back down the road towards her house and she asks if the origami she sees in the back seat is his and complements him but he explains that it is his sons origami. She says
"This right here please and it's the house just at the bottom of the road please." - Girl
They arrive outside her house, she gets out and thanks the man before walking off confused. The man smiles and watches her before taking a picture of her house.
