Evaluation Question 1 - Plan

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

If some untrained actors are used, some social realism films use some untrained actors - fish tank

develop that by casting all actors with little or no experience

challenge naturalistic performances altogether by achieving this against more the opposing trained theatrical performers. making a social realism with untrained actors - making a point

social realism use low key lighting in their films

develop

challenge low key lighting by making it evenly lit throughout the film

uneasy calm lighting, evenly lit in the car - this challenges the conventions

conventions are anything that the audience expects in the way of the narrative because we are in a particular genre

Form is structure and shape, short takes long takes... long scenes short scenes...
form is style, these are the elements that present it - the lighting because it creates an effect... give comparisons.

An element of form I would like to work with is long takes. This element manifest itself into my film with the awkward silences and building in tension because of these.

Am I following a practice (use) or am I developing works that were before mine?

How to structure the points made:
Form (5%) (...) > Explanation (10%) (...) > Professional Comparison (20%) (...) > Use? Develop? Challenge? (35%) (...) > Effectiveness - Successful/Unsuccessful? (30%)

Form - Long takes
Explanation - Awkwardness and building tension
Professional Comparison - Soft, because of the beginning scene with the long takes and building tension. The Most Beautiful Man in the World, because it creates a sense of stasis and sensuality.
Use, develop, challenge - Use, because a similar awkwardness with long takes in TMBMITW.
Effectiveness -

Form - Camera angle
Explanation - Showing point of view shots to create intimacy and also to create power within the characters and show dominance.
Professional Comparison - TMBMITW shows high angle shots to show the young girl as weak and vulnerable.
Use, develop, challenge - Use, because I am using the same high angles to show weakness and vulnerability. But also develop as it is point of view shots and developed to show it from the weaker perspective.
Effectiveness -

How to structure the points made:
Convention (...) > Explanation (...) > Professional Comparison (...) > Use? Develop? Challenge? (...) > Effectiveness - Successful/Unsuccessful?

Convention - Low key lighting is often used in social realism and thrillers.
Explanation - I have used even lighting rather than low key lighting.
Professional Comparison - Two Cars, One Night is a product of the genre social realism that uses low key lighting.
Use, develop, challenge - I have challenged this convention of the two genres as I have used even and calming lighting.
Effectiveness -

Convention - Location shooting
Explanation - In the social realist genre, real locations have been traditionally used in preference to studio sets.
Professional Comparison - TMBMITW, Gasman and Cubs are all location shoots. Interior and exteriors have been carefully selected for their capacity to represent specific class, status and regional identity.
Use, develop, challenge - I have used this in my product to show an authentic, naturalistic, abandoned and secluded country-side road, these features are represented well as it is not an idealistic location.

Visually explain and not just long paragraphs - screen shots.
