Script - Final Draft

"IN YOUR EYES"
FADE IN:
INT. CAR - DAY
GUY #1 is driving through a country road at mid-day listening to american country music. He notices a couples roaring argument on the worn mud patch side of the secluded road with their car bunged up next to them and as they contrast the calming overgrown nature, that seeing this couple on the side of the road interests him. He slows his car down so that he can spy on the argument. The couple are throwing their hands about and getting in each others faces. He takes a particular interest towards the girl and watches her as she behaves with animal-like characteristics with the increase in her body size because of her arms flailing above her head and her mouth shouting with a possessive rhythm. The guy drives past the couple but they're completely oblivious to their surroundings. GUY #1 parks his car further up the road and watches them through the wing-mirror.
EXT. ROAD - DAY
The 18 year old girl runs back towards GUY #2 car, but the guy drags her away from the car and pushes her. She runs back towards GUY #2 again, but this time he punches her in the face, she falls to the floor and in panic GUY #2 rushes into his car and drives off.
INT. CAR - DAY

BLACK SCREEN
EXT. ROAD - DAY
GIRL is awoken by bulky black shoes coming towards her.
GUY #1 offers GIRL a blanket and a flask of hot chocolate and then he walks back to his car that is parked up in front of her. She acts hesitant towards the man, then ponders the flask and although doesn't initially find anything, she decides against drinking it.
GUY #1 opens the passenger door of his car and walks back to her as she sits curled up in a ball with the blanket wrapped around her and flask in her hand. He towers over her and attempts to help her up by offering a hand that she at first hesitates towards. She looks at his bulky black shoes, then moves up to his light blue jeans, then to his t-shirt, red cardigan and black jacket. She looks at his face and notices his cleanly positioned hair with not one strand out of place, before eventually meeting eye contact with the guy and shying away. The offer still remains. GIRL decides to quickly take his hand and gets up.
GUY #1 ushers GIRL to the car, she repeatedly glances at him timidly and then decides to open the flask, smell the inside and take a sip of it. She raises her eyebrows in shock.

GIRL
What is this?

The guy briefly looks at her.

GIRL
What, is it a secret?
GUY #1
It's home-made.

She stays watching his every move, observing as much as she can but begins to feel dizzy and looks towards the floor as her weightless neck swings her head like a pendulum.
GIRL
Urm...
GUY #1
Home?
GIRL pauses and looks at GUY #1 and then looks at the car. Then she looks around and remembers she is in the middle of nowhere.
GIRL
If that's OK? I can give you directions.
INT. CAR - DAY
GIRL sits in the car with her hands in her lap and her legs folded. She starts looking around his car and notices a cowboy car freshener swinging from the rear-view mirror, another flask in the cup-holder of the driver door that is covered in stickers of different brand labels and logos. She carries on investigating further and scattered in the back-seats of the car is a tin french 70's box, a cowboy hat, an origami and a pencil case. She looks at her sketchbook in her hands and wipes the dirt off of it, straightens out a bent corner and then puts it back in her bag. When looking around, she notices there is no crumbs, leaves, mud, discarded rubbish or anything. As she is looking, GUY #1 opens the door and she quickly turns around to sit in her seat.
GUY #1 starts up the car and his radio begins to blast country music.
GUY #1 stays stationary and looks at GIRL. She looks back in awkwardness as the guy is holding a willful stare beyond her shoulder, so she follows his eye path that seemingly leads to the unlocked door lock.
GUY #1
Are you forgetting something?
GIRL
What?
GUY #1
Your belt.
GIRL politely plugs in her belt and GUY #1 drives off.
BLACK SCREEN
INT. CAR - DAY
GIRL
I like the origami in the backseat, did you make it?
GUY #1
No.
GUY #1 turns the country music louder and GIRL folds her arms, looks to the ground and then looks out the window to the fields next to the country roads.
GIRL
This left here, please.
GUY #1 carries on straight and takes a right. GIRL looks at him and he looks back, smiles and stops the car.
GUY #1
Just a moment.
EXT. ROAD - DAY
The guy gets out the car, slides around to the boot and rummages through it.
INT. CAR - DAY
GIRL begins to feel faint and dizzy, but is quickly shaken by a loud bang of the man’s car boot shutting.
EXT. ROAD - DAY
The man locks the car and goes behind a hut.
INT. CAR - DAY
She starts searching the car and looks towards the drivers seat and in the pockets behind the seats, then looks out the window to the wing-mirror to see if anyone is around to help, then looks towards the boot and then finally she rummages through the glove box where a bag of rubbish pours out. She is rushing through the rubbish trying to get it back in the bag and then into the glove box. Out of all the rubbish, she notices Polaroids that have stains on them and some where the ink has run, she looks at them intensively, but before she could look through them properly she starts to feel drowsy and everything seems to be moving a lot slower. She tidies it all into the glove box and keeps looking around. She notices the interesting French 70's tin box, she snatches it quickly into her hands and open the box to reveal a pile of Polaroids and the top one being of a house. She stares intensively at the photo and her facial expressions loosen. She notices the man is coming back towards the car and is only able to see the one picture. She hurriedly takes the picture and puts it in her sketchbook, then puts the lid on and places it where she found it. The guy gets back into the car calmly and contrasts the panicked mood of the girl. She is falling in and out of consciousness and is swaying weightlessly. He starts the engine and turns it around to go back down the road towards her house. She gives him directions as she lays the side of her head on the window to try and regain balance.
GIRL
This right here please. It's the house just at the bottom of the road, please.

BLACK SCREEN
INT. ROAD - DAY
She awakes to the sight of her house and then looks at the guy. The guy was still there, she rubs her head in confusion of how she made it home as she doesn't remember giving the guy directions. She pulls a cigarette packet and lighter out of her pocket.

GUY #1
Don't smoke.
GIRL
Sorry, but no. I need one.

The guy is becoming agitated as she begins to roll the cigarette and is shaking, causing some of the tobacco to fall onto her lap and the chair. He looks at her in distress due to making his car messy. She then gets out and thanks the man before walking off confused.
INT. CAR - DAY
The man is aggravated and he reaches for his Polaroid camera from under his chair and tries to take a picture of the girl. But in his struggle, he finds it hard to position himself. He finally takes the picture and a cyclist cycles past in the way of his shot. The Polaroid prints out and it leaves a blur along the picture, he looks at the picture and it has left an interesting effect. The guy stares blankly at the picture.
